About the event
Looking for something different to try, or a relaxed way to meet new people? Join Plymouth’s Mad About Swing for a free introduction to Lindy Hop. Expect an hour of swing music, beginner-friendly steps and no pressure to get everything right.
Mad About Swing co-founder Duncan will lead the session with swing dancer Anna. They'll start with the basic rhythm, then build up a few simple moves for everyone to practise together. Lindy Hop is a Black American social dance born in Harlem and danced to jazz and swing music. The session is designed for complete beginners.
You’ll usually change partners as the class goes on, so introductions happen naturally and you’ll soon know a few faces. If you’d rather stay with the person you came with, that’s completely fine.
Come alone, with friends or with a partner. You don’t need any dance experience or a vintage outfit. Just wear something…
