LGBT+ History Month: Upcoming Events in Plymouth

8th February:


  • LGBTQ+ Sudent Mixer, AUP Students' Union :


Join us in the SU for a night of iconic music, cheap drinks and good vibes! Come alone or bring your friends (UoP Students welcome too!) It's free entry but don't forget your valid photo I.D as this is an 18+ event.


  • Pride Pop-Up: Archives, Theatre Royal Plymouth


11am – 3pm, The Gallery Café – Drop in session (Non-ticketed).


Join Pride in Plymouth as they delve into LGBTQ+ history from the South West. While investigating archival materials, viewers are invited to share their experiences to add to the archive and help document today’s LGBTQIA+ history!


  • In conversation: The importance and power of Community Archives, Theatre Royal Plymouth


7:15pm, The Drum (2 hours approx.)


Dr Alan Butler and Donna Maughan will be giving a presentation and discussion around the power of community archives that bound to spark some intergenerational conversations and reflections!


Entry is a pay what you feel donation, £5.00 minimum.


 

9th Febraury


  • Queer Voices Platform, Theatre Royal Plymouth


Fri 9th Feb, 7:15pm, The Drum (2 hours approx.).


Queer Out loud and DownStageWrite are teaming up to bring you a night of LGBTQIA+ joy with a platform for local performers to present monologues, poetry and other short pieces of work!


Pay what you feel, £5.00 minimum.


 

10th February:


  • Crème de la Crème Cabaret, Theatre Royal Plymouth


7:15-9:15pm, The Drum


Welcome to the cabaret! An evening filled with Queer theatre, spoken word, comedy, and live music! The event is donation based (a pay what you feel), with £5.00 minimum.


 

13th February:


  • All + Open Mic, Nowhere Inn


The theme is 'Love and Monsters' and the floor is yours! Join us for this Open Mic Night held from 8 til late. Open to perfomers of under-represented genders, there'll be poets, musicians, bands and more!


 

15th February:


Falling in Love with IRIS (15), Plymouth Art Cinema


Join us from 8pm for a collection of short films curated by the Iris Prize LGBTQ+ Film Festival! Exploring looking for love, finding love, desire, and human connections in various forms there's something for everyone!


Starting at 8pm, the screening will be introduced by Seth Edmonds, Assistant to the Director at Iris Prize.


 

18th February:


7pm onwards


  • The Heartbreak Gala Drag Show, Leadworks


Come along and support Plymouth's emerging Drag Show held at Leadworks. It stars Ziggy Cigar, Hell-O-Weenie, Noodlez and Monique Hunt. And there will also be an Art Market. What's not to love!?


 

21st February:


  • LGBTQ+ Drink and Draw, AUP Student's' Union


Hosted by the LGBTQ+ Society but open to all (including UoP students), this AUP classic is back! Join us for a night of drinking and drawing in the SU! Bring your own projects or just stay for the music, it's up to you! Don't forget your Valid Photo I.D though as this is an 18+ event.
