What made you want to join the Executive Committee?
I wanted to join the executive committee after the original team was introduced to the first years in their welcome talk. Prior to joining PCA I had also decided I wanted to do something more at university, and this seemed like a perfect time to get involved in a great SU and take on more responsibility in the following year.
Why did you choose your particular role?
I chose to be LGBTQ+ representative as I wasn't sure which role I wanted to go for, and also didn't want to bite off more than I can chew. I am glad I ran for LGBTQ+ rep as it is great coming from Cornwall and learn how to fight for inclusivity and equality in a much larger way than I would have expected back home.
What has been your favourite part of being on the Executive Committee?
My favourite part has been being able to raise money in February for LGBTQ+ history month with the support of the rest of the SU and my friends. This was my first fundraising experience and it has not only donated to a good cause, but also opened my eyes to managing events and fundraising in general.
What do you plan to do with the rest of your time on the committee?
I plan on bringing more LGBTQ+ events for the society and eventually a successful society meeting! Always open to suggestions for the events but perhaps some kind of nights out for those who want to go out for a more active atmosphere with the society, and then a society meal to socialise with relaxed atmosphere.
