We are delighted to announce that we have appointed Beth Evans as your Student Union President and Student Governor 23/24.
Beth Evans (They/Them) graduated from Arts University Plymouth with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art in 2023. Beth is a writer, illustrator and conceptual artist whose work focuses on finding a balance between sarcasm and sincerity and was a Student Representative and Workshop Assistant in their third year of their studies, before being elected Student Union President and Student Governor for 2022/23.
As Student Union President, Beth represents all students at Arts University Plymouth on various boards and committees within the university, including Academic Board, Board of Governors and the Student Engagement and Experience Committee. Beth chairs the Student Voice meetings to make your voices heard. You can contact Beth by emailing them at bevans@aup.ac.uk.
Harriet will continue her role as Student Union Manager. As Student Union Manager, she is responsible for a lot of the behind-the-scenes of the Students’ Union, such as the finances, communications, and staffing. You can contact Harriet by emailing her at hmoore@aup.ac.uk.
Our outgoing Student Union President and Student Governor, Fraizer James says:
"I joined Arts University Plymouth in September 2018, having never lived alone or having a real job. I was the first in my family to even go to University, and I think I almost stumbled into Arts University Plymouth accidentally. A month later, I was hired as a Student Ambassador and I have not left since. After four years of a Undergraduate Degree and working here, and a year as your Students Union President and Student Governor, I can not put into words how it has filled me with pride - to stand amongst you all in this community that we are so lucky to have. I offer you all a bittersweet 'see you later' because, if I've learnt anything, it is that I can never stay away too long. Thank you, truly."
If you're not sure who to contact, we'd recommend emailing studentsunion@aup.ac.uk and one of the team will get back to you.
We hope you’ll join us in welcoming Beth into their new position, and look forward to what the team will achieve in the academic year 2023/24.
